The 4activeC2-rearmotion-target (RMT) is a lightweight and modular rear-end target developed to simulate the back structure of a passenger vehicle. It was designed in alignment with the rear-end specification of the 3D Global Vehicle Target (GVT) according to ISO 19206-3, supporting 80–120% overlap at 0° ±10° for AEB rear-end testing scenarios.
The RMT is compatible with both 4activeFB-small and 4activeFB-large platforms and supports test speeds of up to 30 km/h, withstanding longitudinal crash speeds of up to 80 km/h. Its soft and robust structure ensures safe, repeatable testing and allows for quick reusability after impact. Thanks to its modular design, the RMT can be assembled and installed in just a few minutes. An optional light kit is available to enhance realism for camera and sensor-based systems.
The RMT is currently the most cost-effective solution for rear-end testing with a dedicated rear-motion target. It delivers high fidelity in radar, lidar, camera, and infrared perception, making it ideal for both development and validation environments. Its design also makes it an excellent choice for truck AEB testing, where rear-end scenarios involving stationary or slow-moving vehicles are increasingly relevant in the context of Euro NCAP and UNECE safety initiatives.
