4activeOD-newborn: Euro NCAP certified Dummy for Advanced Child Presence Detection
4activeSystems has been working closely with Euro NCAP for many years to improve the protection of newborns inside vehicles. Situations where high cabin temperatures and moments of caregiver distraction coincide show how urgently intelligent safety solutions are needed. With the 4activeOD-newborn Dummy, we have created a solution that sets new industry standards:
- realistic head, arm, and leg movements,
- precise breathing simulation,
- and a skin like surface that delivers highly accurate radar reflections for modern in cabin systems.
Our goal was to create the most advanced and reliable dummy for Child Presence Detection testing (CPD testing), one that enables automotive manufacturers to identify safety critical scenarios with confidence and trigger immediate reactions in an emergency. With four clearly defined behavioral states and flexible, individually controllable motion profiles, the 4activeOD-newborn provides exactly the functionality required for realistic CPD testing.
This innovation was developed as part of one of the largest CPD projects (https://www.child-presence-detection.org) in the automotive industry, in collaboration with more than 35 internationally leading companies.
The result: the 4activeOD-newborn is the only fully validated CPD dummy with sensor relevant characteristics, confirmed directly by industry partners.
